Tap any key to hear it and learn its letter name. The white keys go C D E F G A B β€” then start over!

The yellow key is Middle C. See the black keys in groups of 2 and 3? That pattern repeats all the way up the piano β€” it's how your eyes find any note.

How to remember

Only 7 letters are used: A B C D E F G. After G you go back to A. Find the group of two black keys β€” C is the white key just to the left of them. Once you know C, the rest follow in a row.

An interval is the distance between two notes. Tap the buttons below β€” or tap any two keys yourself β€” to see and hear it.

A 2nd = a STEP πŸͺœ

Move to the very next white key β€” right next door. C up to D is a 2nd.

A 3rd = a SKIP ⏭️

Hop over one white key. C up to E (skipping D) is a 3rd.
2nd = step = next door 3rd = skip = hop one
Tap two keys β€” or a button β€” to see an interval.
